Who Really Deserves Access to You – Snake Year Lessons

Intimacy isn’t just about sex. It’s about closeness. Access. Energy exchange.

And that’s exactly why the Year of the Snake has been so revealing.

Snake energy doesn’t rush … It watches … It feels. It notices where things are slightly off long before the mind wants to admit it … Annoyingly so. This year has a way of showing us where we’ve been open-hearted… and a little too open-ended … Hmm deeply inconvenient, frankly. Honestly, the audacity of it!

Recently, I found myself in that exact space. Realising something meaningful had reached its end.

When Intimacy (or Friendship) Becomes One-Sided

Whether it’s a lover or a friend, intimacy starts to feel wrong when the exchange quietly tips.

You might be the one:

• allowing things to slide for too long

• making allowances or making things easier for them

• letting people take from you

• giving time, energy, patience and even money

Not because you’re weak.

But because you care. Big cue for ‘why did I do that?’ moment.

Entitlement in intimate or friendship dynamics rarely looks aggressive. More often, it shows up as assumed access. Someone taking because you’re available … not because it’s been offered. Expecting because you’ve been generous. Crossing lines because they were never clearly pushed back on.

And when connection matters to you, it’s easy to explain it away. But heres the thing your body keeps the score. Not always immediately but inevitably.

Intimacy Lives in the Body (Not Just the Bedroom)

Here’s the thing most people miss:

Your body knows long before your head does.

You feel it when:

• boundaries aren’t respected

• you notice your time or generosity being assumed rather than appreciated

• the dynamic subtly shifts from mutual exchange to expectation

• you leave interactions feeling contracted instead of open

• gratitude fades and entitlement takes its place.

That’s intimacy speaking through the body, whether the connection is romantic, sexual or simply close. Funny … Sex doesn’t make something intimate … Access does.

Leopards, Spots, and Repeating Patterns

There’s a reason we say leopards don’t change their spots.

People can grow … absolutely.

But growth requires self-awareness and responsibility.

When patterns repeat … dismissal, entitlement, blurred boundaries … it’s no longer confusion. It’s information. Red flags don’t always wave loudly. Often, they whisper and wait to see if you’ll listen.

Ignoring them doesn’t make you kind.

It disconnects you from yourself.

Why This Matters (Especially in Snake Year Energy)

This is where things get blurred.

We are all human … and when we don’t recognise friendship as an intimate space, we can:

• overgive

• excuse entitlement because “it’s not romantic”

• miss red flags

• allow emotional access without true reciprocity

Snake energy asks us to be discerning about who has access to our inner world, not just our bodies.

This is about emotional consent.

Energetic boundaries.

And self-respect.

The Wildfire Horse: When Knowing Becomes Movement

The Snake brings awareness.

The Wildfire Horse brings action.

This is not a year for staying in dynamics that require you to keep explaining yourself, shrinking or giving more than is returned. Wildfire doesn’t destroy what’s true it … clears what’s misaligned so something healthier can grow.

Sometimes shedding isn’t dramatic.

It’s quiet.

It’s choosing distance.

It’s closing a door gently but firmly.

And for me when I finally listened and chose to step away, it wasn’t reactive or unkind.

It was clear!

Cutting ties didn’t harden me; it gave my energy back to me … Thank every higher power involved!

It restored a sense of self respect I hadn’t realised I was quietly compromising. Growth has impeccable timing … thats for sure.

So … What This Invites You to Ask

This reflection is here so you can pause and check in:

• Where am I over-giving in intimacy or friendship?

• What red flags did I notice but rationalise away?

• Who has access to me — and have they earned it?

• What could I be letting go of?

Shedding old skin can feel tender.

But staying in a skin that no longer fits costs far more.

This year isn’t asking you to harden.

It’s asking you to be clear.

Let the Snake shed what’s no longer clean or serving you.

Let the Wildfire Horse move you toward what feels mutual, grounded and alive.

Your body already knows … So this year, trust it.

If you can feel there’s still a layer ready to shed … you dont have to do it alone. If you would like to learn more about ‘Master You Domain’ Program a fully transformational six-month container, this work is about exactly that: reclaiming self-trust, clearing old patterns and learning how to stand firmly in your own authority … in intimacy and life.
