A return to the body. A shift from doing… to being.
There’s a whole lot of noise around Tantra.
For some, it’s been reduced to something purely sexual.
For others, it feels abstract… almost out of reach.
And somewhere in the middle, the real essence often gets lost. Because Tantra, at its core, is actually simple.
It’s not about doing more.
It’s not about technique.
And it’s definitely not about performance.
It’s about coming back into the body and learning how to be there.
Where Tantra Comes From
Tantra has been around for thousands of years, with roots in ancient Eastern traditions, particularly within Hindu and Buddhist lineages.
Originally, it wasn’t created as a sexual practice.
It was a path to awareness.
A way of experiencing life more fully through the body, the breath and presence.
The word Tantra translates to “to weave.”
To weave together:
I believe …breath, sensation, movement, sound and awareness into a more connected way of being.
Over time, especially in the West, Tantra became narrowed down… often misunderstood.
But real Tantra isn’t about performance or outcome. It’s about presence.
Tantra 101 — Being, Not Doing
Most people live in a constant state of doing.
Thinking.
Analysing.
Trying to get it right.
Especially when it comes to intimacy.
There’s pressure to perform.
To last longer.
To be “good.”
Tantra shifts that completely.
It invites you to slow down…
and drop out of your head.
Because your body already knows how to feel it just hasn’t been given the space. We are so busy … Korean style (private joke)
The Mind-Body Disconnect
One of the biggest things I see is how disconnected people are from their bodies … wowweee!
The mind takes over:
overthinking, self-judgement, performance anxiety.
And the body responds by either shutting down… or rushing. We all do it!
Tantra works by gently bringing the mind and body back into sync.
Through:
breath
touch
slowing things down
Not forcing anything rather …just allowing.
And when that happens, something shifts.
You guessed it … you stop performing…
and you start feeling!
Returning to the Body
So much of Tantra is about coming home to yourself.
Back into sensation.
Back into presence.
Back into flow.
When you’re in your body:
there’s less pressure
less thinking
more natural response
You don’t have to try to feel something.
You already do.
What a Tantric Session Can Look Like
For many, Tantra begins with a guided session.
Not a routine.
Not a script.
A body-led experience.
It may start simply:
with grounding
breath
presence
Sometimes small rituals to help you arrive.
From there, the session often moves to the massage table —
but not in the way most people expect.
This isn’t about working on muscles.
It’s about working with what’s presenting in your body.
That could be:
tension
holding patterns
shallow breathing
nervous system activation
Or even a disconnect from sensation altogether.
Working With Energy — The Whole Body
One of the biggest misconceptions about Tantra is that it focuses on one area.
In reality, it’s the opposite.
Tantra works with the entire body.
Energy — including sensual or sexual energy — can be:
expanded
circulated
softened
built
through the whole system.
There’s no rush.
No fixed goal.
Just awareness… and movement.
This creates a very different experience.
Less pressure.
More depth.
More connection.
The Role of the Practitioner
A practitioner isn’t there to perform for you — or to follow a checklist.
They’re there to hold the space and guide you back into your body.
To meet you where you are.
To work with what’s real… not what’s expected.
Each session is different.
Because each person is different.
Dropping Out of Performance
If there’s one thing Tantra offers, it’s this:
Relief.
Relief from the pressure to perform.
Relief from overthinking.
Relief from needing to get it right.
You don’t have to achieve anything.
You just get to be.
And from that place…
connection deepens
sensation expands
and flow happens naturally
Final Thoughts
Tantra isn’t something you master in your mind.
It’s something you experience in your body.
It’s subtle.
Layered.
And deeply personal.
For some, it starts as curiosity.
For others, a need for change.
But almost always…
it becomes a return.
A return to the body. A return to presence. A return to yourself.
