Valentine’s Day Isn’t About Roses.
It’s About Presence. Spelt with ‘ce’ at the end. But I’m sure you picked up on that!
I don’t know about you but with Valentine’s Day coming up … I feel that the day has a way of turning connection into performance or some sort of …. oh I must give my partner gifts to show I love them. The dinner reservations… just the expectations. Its trying to prove love instead of actually feeling it.
This year, let’s do it differently.
Instead of doing more, slow it right down. Instead of impressing, arrive and just spend time being present with each other. Because real intimacy doesn’t come from grand gestures (they are lovely however) … it comes from being fully here with each other.
Don’t know where or how to start maybe try a Valentine’s Tantric Ritual and you can even try it tonight.

Set aside 20–30 minutes.
Phones off. Lights low. No agenda.
Step 1: Arrive Together
Sit facing each other. Knees touching if that feels comfortable.
One partner places a hand on their own chest.
The other places a hand on their own belly.
Close your eyes and take five slow breaths together.
No talking. Just breathing in the same rhythm … it can help if you make a little sound to keep in sync.
This alone begins to soften the nervous system.
If this feels too woo woo just open the eyes softly and give each other a smile
Moving on to Step 2: Conscious Touch
One partner becomes the giver, one the receiver.
The giver places one hand on the receiver’s chest/heart and one hand on their lower belly (
Soft eyes.
Hold there.
Don’t move.
Don’t fix.
Simply feel the warmth, the breath still in sync, the subtle shifts.
After a few minutes, swap roles.
This kind of touch isn’t about arousal or outcome … it’s about safety, presence and being felt.
Step 3: One Honest Share
Stay in that position.
Each of you takes turns and completes this sentence out loud:
“When we slow down like this, I notice…”
No analysing. No correcting. Just listening.
You can finish up with a hug or just simply holding hands.
You’ll be surprised how much connection can return without doing anything over the top at all.
